11-10 finally here..Wale's big day..and the album followed through! Wale does a real good job of giving everybody the comprehensive Wale. The whole album's extremely well-rounded..he's got some precise thoughtful flow on a light piano beat (90210), some hard classic rap beats (Mirrors w. Bun B), and some ridiculous punchline hip-hop (Beautiful Bliss w. J Cole). Not only does he show off his flow on the whole album though, but the production really lets him shine. I mean, check out the production level on the tracklistings. BKS and Wale have always worked out real well. Cool & Dre got a history of good production. Ronson's a beast. And Wale even brought in that guy from TV on the Radio. So the production's solid.
But I know I might be pretty prejudiced cuz I'm from PG and all and Ive been listenin to him for forever..but he really does a damn good job of gettin a nice variety of songs...mostly on the mainstream level, but still good. He's not a real introspective-type rapper, like Kid Cudi...he keeps some gangsta with him..and he's definitely a punchline rapper..that's what he feeds off of. But it's something everyone can feel to..and I hate to say it like this..but it's radio-friendly material haha. Anyway, I love Wale..I'll be listenin to this for a while.
